If you live in DC, or are just heading here for a visit, take a look at this printable deck of illos highlighting 14 of my favorite DC ARTS programs and places. When Neenah Paper asked me to show the best part of my city through drawings for their new promotional book I chose to show how creative this city is, as opposed to representing the obvious (insert The White House and Abraham Lincoln here). A few months back I was asked to create a page of illustrations that highlighted and aspect of the city I live in. Washington, D.C. is an interesting place with many histories and layers of complexity. There ARE people who have lived in DC their whole life, believe it or not. I moved here about 6 years ago for graduate school. It took awhile to find my place but thriving creative community is where I have landed.

So when Neenah Paper decided to contact up and coming artist in up and coming cities to highlight their favorite parts I chose to create a page of icon representations of my favorite Arts organizations and places. The legend is as follows: 1. The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts 2. The Phillips Collection 3. Comet Ping Pong 4. Hamiltonian Gallery 5. Art Enables 6. Sixth and I Synagogue 7. Black Cat 8. Shakespeare Theatre Company 9. Dance Place 10. Atlas Performing Arts Center 11. The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden 12. Flashpoint Gallery 13. Capital Fringe 14. National Gallery of Art
